C.H.I.P. – The $9 Computer
- Client: Next Thing Co.
- Role: mechanical design, 3D modelling, manufacturing
C.H.I.P., or “the world’s first $9 computer”, is a credit card-sized, fully open-source, single-board computer that runs mainline Linux. I collaborated with the electrical and software engineering teams at Next Thing Co. to design the physical constraints of the product (component placement, orientation, shape) and led the design, 3D modeling, and manufacturing of the case that protects the most sensitive components on C.H.I.P.’s underside.
